Have a wonderful and safe summer break.  Look forward to seeing you all next school year 2010-2011.  Exceeding Excellence at School of Excellence - Copeland Elementary

Copeland Community:

Our mission here at Dr. David M. Copeland Elementary is to assure that all of our students are serviced academically, mentally, spiritually, socially, and emotionally.

It was made public that in the 2008-2009 school years Dr. David M. Copeland Elementary was accepted as a "TEA Recognized school". We would like to congratulate all of the hard working students and staff members of Copeland Elementary for achieving such an honor.

For the 1st time in the history of our Copeland community we have received three of the performance awards presented to Texas Schools by TEA. Copeland Elementary has earned the GOLD PERFORMANCE AWARDS for MATH, READING, and ATTENDANCE. 2008-09 School Report Cards are now available

I would like to send special thanks to Ms. Glass our curriculum instructional coordinator, Ms. Lancry our lead third grade teacher as well as her team; Mrs. Lippincott, Mrs. Sullivan, Mrs. Davis, Ms. Dennis, Mrs. Passmore and Mrs. K. Williams. Thank you for all your extraordinary individual efforts with our students. This helped us earn the Gold Performance Awards in MATH and READING. I would also like to send a very special thanks to Mrs. Ponce our parent liaison for all her passionate efforts in helping us to receive the Gold Performance award for ATTENDANCE. Thank you to all the teachers and staff that gave up their Saturdays to help educate our next generation of leaders.

Notes to Parents:

  • If your child has excessive tardiness you will receive a 6:00 am wake up call.
  • If you have a 3rd grade student, I am requiring them to show all their work on each math assignment and all reading passages. Understanding how your child obtains their answers will allow us to fix simple errors and help correct them quickly and easily. When students show their work teachers become more accountable for interventions that will help assure your child's academic success. Teachers can then better evaluate your student for comprehension and understanding of tested materials. Please help us stress the importance of showing your work to your student!
  • We are off to a great year and look forward to holding up the standards that have been show above, please continue to help the Copeland community be the best that it can be. Thanks to everyone that labors with us to change the world one child at a time.
